Your hair appointment is scheduled for this upcoming Thursday, you’re planning on hitting up your favorite nail salon on Tuesday, and you have a full-body massage coming up on Friday – what are you forgetting?

The eyebrows, of course!

If you’re not regularly maintaining and enhancing your eyebrows, well, you know what they say – the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, but the second best time is right now. So, why not start now?

Don’t worry – we’ve got you covered, Nashville!

Eyebrow lamination is one of our favorite procedures here at The SKN Bar. It’s our non-invasive way of straightening, reshaping, and nourishing your brow hairs to achieve your desired shape and thickness.

Let’s take a look at some of the benefits of brow lamination:

  • Sleeker, neater, and fuller-looking eyebrows
  • A natural look without adding ‘new hairs’
  • No needles, no tattooing, and no semi-permanent makeup
  • It can last for up to eight weeks before a touch-up is needed
  • A pain-free procedure that rarely takes more than an hour

If you’re considering this procedure, then you’ve come to the right place – our expert team is ready to show you the way! Don’t worry – we’ll detail everything you need to know before your appointment below!

Relax, Reform, Nourish: Step-by-Step Brow Lamination Process

Unlike microblading, which involves piercing the skin with tiny needles like a mini tattoo, brow lamination uses a solution to relax the hairs – allowing us to straighten them out and shape them however we want.

You heard that right – no needles involved!

Even better, brow lamination only takes about 45 minutes from start to finish – which is about three times as quick as microblading. You won’t have to sit there for hours, and you’ll still achieve your desired look!

All in all, the brow lamination process generally consists of five different steps – cleaning, relaxing, reforming, nourishing, and shaping. Let’s take a closer look at each step in the lamination process!

1. Cleaning the Hairs

Just like an artist needs a blank canvas before they start painting, your practitioner needs a clean eyebrow before they start laminating. Skipping this step could disrupt the chemical process that follows.

You can help your practitioner by not wearing makeup to your appointment.

To clean the brow, your practitioner will use a pH-neutral (not pH-balanced) cleanser with a gentle cloth. They’ll treat it more like a massage than a cleansing, which helps the patient relax before getting started.

2. Relaxing the Hairs

During this step, we apply a perming solution onto the eyebrow, which is meant to soften the hair, open the brow cuticles, and break down the protein chains in the hair shafts – giving us control of the shape.

The patient won’t be the only one relaxing – their eyebrow hairs will feel it, too!

Once applied, the eyebrow hairs are brushed upwards and are left to sit for a short period of time. During this time, your practitioner will cover the eyebrows with cling wrap to help speed the chemical process up.

3. Reforming the Hairs

Now that the hairs have softened, we can move on to the second solution – the neutralizer. The purpose of this step is to set the hairs in place, while achieving the desired look and ensuring long-term results.

Much like the previous step, the solution is left on the hairs for about 5-8 minutes.

Basically, this solution stops the other solution from working its magic – we wanted the hairs to soften, but we don’t want to soften so much that they break or fall out. That’s why the neutralizer is so important!

4. Nourishing the Hairs

Once the neutralizing solution is removed, your practitioner will move on to the nourishment stage. This solution usually contains keratin and is essential to conditioning and hydrating your eyebrow hairs.

This lotion ultimately helps regenerate, revitalize, moisturize, and restore your eyebrow hairs.

The aftercare is important because you want the keratin to work its magic. That means not getting your eyebrows wet for 24 hours after the procedure and avoiding direct sunlight for at least 48 hours.

5. Shaping the Eyebrows

Depending on what your goals are, your practitioner might undergo a series of other procedures during the brow lamination  – all in an effort to enhance the overall look and bring out the best of your brows.

Some of those procedures include brow tinting, waxing, henna brows, and tweezing.

The result is a set of eyebrows that not only look full, but are darker, more noticeable, and more defined – doesn’t that sound like a dream come true? Well, it could be yours if you give us an hour of your time!
